Las Vegas Real Estate during the 1900's

The modern settlement of Las Vegas began in the 1850's when Mormon missionaries began developing the agriculture of Las Vegas and calling Las Vegas home. The Valley that we know as Las Vegas was en root for those traveling to California from the east. The Pacific Union Railroad made its debut in 1905. During the same year Pacific Union auctioned off large parcels of land, which was a beautiful beginning to Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Real Estate Benefits from Hoover Dam

Nevada made Las Vegas an official city in 1911. Shortly after the organization of Las Vegas the Great Depression hit. Fortunately for Las Vegas the construction of the Hoover (originally the Boulder) Dam 1931 couldn't have come at a better time. The Hoover Dam gave Las Vegas stability during a time when it was most needed. The project brought jobs, city development, and large amounts of Government funding. During the same year Nevada legalized gambling.

Las Vegas Real Estate Growth Due to Casinos

The gambling industry has brought great growth to Las Vegas not only in tourism but also in population growth. This growth has greatly benefited the Las Vegas real estate market. The notorious gangster Bugsy Siegel completed the first major casino in 1945. Other large casino resorts followed suite shortly after. Much of the past Las Vegas real estate growth can be attributed to the casino industry.

Las Vegas Statistics Today

Las Vegas real estate came off of a strait 19 years of appreciation in 2005. The Las Vegas housing market has come off of nearly 20 years of unprecedented growth. In 1980 the population in Las Vegas was 528,000 people. In 1990 the population had grown nearly 62% to a staggering 853,000 people. The current population is over 1.9 million people and growing at a rapid pace. Some experts have predicted that Las Vegas would grow 50% between 2006 and 2016. Las Vegas real estate made history in 2003/2004 when Las Vegas real estate was appreciating 400% in some areas. Since then the Las Vegas housing market has settled into a normal market however experts are now predicting other possible booms in Las Vegas homes for the future.
