Las Vegas Realtors®
Las Vegas Realtors® come in all different shapes and sizes but they are all the same when it comes to the level of ethics and standards they profess. This code of ethics and standards of practice is what separates a Las Vegas Real Estate Agent from a Las Vegas Realtor®. The code of ethics is very important to understand when choosing a company and Agent in which to represent you in the next sale or purchase of a home. There are wonderful benefits to working with a Las Vegas Realtor® who lives the standard of which they profess.
When is a Las Vegas Real Estate Agent a Las Vegas Realtor?
It is a common misunderstanding that a Real Estate Agent is automatically a Realtor. There are real distinctions between them. A Las Vegas Real Estate Agent becomes a Las Vegas Realtor when they become a member of the National Association of Realtors®. They pledge a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, which outline the duties of a Realtor to clients, the public, and other Las Vegas Realtors®.
The Code of Ethics of a Las Vegas Realtor
The following are the basic principles of the Code of Ethics of a Las Vegas Realtor:
- Protect and promote your client’s interests, but be honest with all parties.
- Avoid exaggeration, misrepresentation, and concealment of pertinent facts. Do not reveal facts that are confidential under the scope of your agency relationship.
- Cooperate with other Las Vegas Real Estate Agents to advance your clients best interests.
- When buying or selling, make your position in the transaction or interest known.
- Disclose present or contemplated interest in any property to all parties.
- Avoid side deals without your client’s informed consent.
- Accept compensation from only one party, except with full disclosure and informed consent.
- Keep the funds of clients and customers in escrow.
- Assure, whenever possible, that transactional details are in writing.
- Provide equal service to all clients and customers.
- Be knowledgeable and competent in the fields of practice in which you ordinarily engage. Obtain assistance or disclose lack of experience if necessary.
- Present a true picture in your advertising and other public representations.
- Do not engage in the unauthorized practice of law.
- Be a willing participant in Code enforcement procedures.
- Ensure that your comments about other Las Vegas Realtors® are truthful, and not misleading.

If you take note of the basic principles we subscribe to as Realtors® in Las Vegas you will see the great distinction between Realtors® and Real Estate Agents. It is hard to imagine but, as a Las Vegas Real Estate Agent one does not have the same obligation as a Realtor® does. The benefit of working with a Realtor in Las Vegas is that you know that there is a higher standard directing their thoughts and actions. With the higher standards come also stiffer punishments for those who neglect their obligations as a Realtor®. It brings many clients comfort to know that Las Vegas Realtors® are held accountable for their actions.
